Our story

Our journey

Ever since our inception in 2011 we have navigated the changing industry landscape, building a reputation and track record within marine construction and complex project execution. We’ve grown globally and developed skilled teams to achieve this, entering new markets and bringing our competence and experience to the oil & gas and renewables market.
2011
The management team, supported by HitecVision created Ocean Installer as a challenger in the market, focusing on marine construction in the harsh North Sea environment.
2014
Main focus on delivering our first contract with a major North Sea operator, and to grow our project back-log. We quickly established ourselves as a recognized company in the SURF (subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines) market, while expanding into the Gulf of Mexico.
2015
In response to a downturn in the oil and gas industry we transitioned to an asset-light business model, as well as simultaneously entering the African and Mediterranean markets, ensuring we could maintain our competitive position for clients.
2019
With a recognised track record in marine installation, we set out to become a preferred supplier of services to the international offshore wind industry.
2020
We restructured and created 3 business areas – Offshore Wind Development, Offshore Wind Installation and Subsea Installation. To support the repositioning, we rebranded to Havfram.
2021
Leveraging the strong experience and results from Subsea Installation we continued to build the offshore wind organization, establishing partnerships with major wind companies including RWE, all while continuing to deliver our most profitable annual performance to date.
2022
Having created a reputable offshore wind offering, we divested the wind turbine installation and wind farm license development business units. Havfram remains today as the holding company for Havfram Wind and Kontiki Winds. We, the original Subsea Installation, marine construction and projects execution business, returned to our roots.
2023
With a clear strategy for growth within marine construction, across all relevant sectors in all main offshore energy markets, we reclaimed the Ocean Installer name and launched a new brand identity.
2024
In June 2024 Moreld, a multi-disciplinary engineering group serving top-tier customers in offshore energy and marine industries, acquires Ocean Installer from Hitec Vision. As part of the acquisition, Ocean Installer was integrated into the Moreld Group as a standalone sister company alongside Moreld Apply and Global Maritime.
