sustainability

Our commitment

Ocean Installer is committed to operating responsibly and contributing to the global transition towards a lower-carbon future. In alignment with international climate objectives, we are working with our owners, Moreld, to develop a group-level Climate Transition Plan aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This work is ongoing and is fundamental to ensuring our sustainability ambitions deliver meaningful and measurable impact.

Sustainability

We support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and have mapped our sustainability priorities against those most relevant to our mission, values, and operational footprint.

Climate Impact & Emissions Reduction

Through our Double Materiality Assessment, Ocean Installer has identified greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as our most significant environmental impact, primarily associated with offshore vessel operations.

Reducing these emissions is a core business priority. We work closely with vessel owners, project teams, and clients to promote energy-efficient operating practices, with particular focus on:

  • Optimised and economical transit speeds where feasible
  • Efficient project planning and vessel utilization
  • Best-practice onboard energy management
  • Availability of bio-diesel

Energy-Efficient & Low-Carbon Vessels

Ocean Installer prioritises the chartering of energy-efficient vessels, with emissions performance and fuel efficiency key considerations during vessel selection.

A recent example is our long-term charter of North Sea Giant, which is equipped with a hybrid battery system capable of providing up to 35% reduction in fuel consumption while operating in DP mode.

In partnership with Solstad, Ocean Installer can also offer selected vessels operating on renewable biodiesel (HVO), delivering up to an 86% reduction in well-to-wake GHG emissions, subject to vessel availability.

Responsible Ways of Working

Sustainability extends beyond offshore operations. Ocean Installer applies internal policies to minimise environmental impact across our day-to-day activities, including:

  • Reducing business travel wherever possible
  • Prioritising virtual collaboration
  • Combining trips when travel is necessary
  • Encouraging shared transportation with colleagues

These measures support emissions reduction while maintaining operational effectiveness.

People, Labour Practices & Human Rights

Ocean Installer is committed to conducting business ethically and responsibly, with respect for people and human rights across all our operations and supply chains.

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour, and are committed to:

  • Providing safe and secure working conditions
  • Treating all workers with dignity and respect
  • Acting ethically and incompliance with applicable laws

These principles apply globally and are embedded within our policies, procedures, and ways of working.

Ethics, Governance & Supply Chain Responsibility

Our approach to governance and ethical conduct is underpinned by clear policies and controls, including:

  • An Employee Code of Conduct, setting expectations for ethical behaviour and professional standards
  • A confidential Whistleblowing Procedure, enabling concerns to be raised safely and without fear of retaliation
  • A Supplier Declaration, requiring suppliers and contractors to uphold labor standards, human rights, and ethical business practices

We expect our partners and suppliers to share our commitment to responsible business conduct.

Training, Due Diligence & Continuous Improvement

Ocean Installer believes that awareness and competence are critical to managing social and ethical risks. We therefore:

  • Require relevant procurement and HR personnel to complete training on modern slavery and human trafficking
  • Raise awareness through regular internal communications
  • Conduct due diligence on new suppliers and periodically review existing suppliers
  • Apply the same standards to labour agencies and third-party providers

We are committed to continuous improvement and to strengthening our approach as risks, regulations, and expectations evolve.

ESG Reporting & Transparency

Robust ESG governance and transparency are key priorities for Ocean Installer. In partnership with Moreld Group - We are working towards alignment with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), supported by our Double Materiality Assessment, which identifies and prioritises our most significant impacts, risks, and opportunities.

We also provide climate-related disclosures through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which can be shared with subscribed clients on request.

Corporate& Project-Level Sustainability Initiatives

Ocean Installer welcomes dialogue with clients and partners to identify opportunities and deliver safer, more efficient, and lower-carbon subsea projects.

Our sustainability efforts are structured around two complementary levels:

Corporate Level

Strategic, ongoing initiatives applied across all projects to reduce environmental impact, improve efficiency, and embed sustainability across the organisation.

Project Level

Collaborative initiatives developed with clients, enabling the definition of project-specific sustainability measures and KPIs.
