Ocean Installer invests in a Vertical Lay System (VLS) and carousel for the laying of umbilicals and flexible flowlines.

Ocean Installer has started building a VLS and carousel for the laying of umbilicals and flexible flowlines. The lay spread will be installed on the long-term chartered subsea construction vessel (SCV) “Normand Clipper” and be operational in Q1 2013.

This investment is in line with our strategy of providing our clients with first rate assets and contributes to the development of our SURF capacities, says Steinar Riise, CEO of Ocean Installer.

AmClyde Norson Engineering, a division of National Oilwell Varco UK Ltd, has been contracted to build the said VLS and carousel.
